My grandpa encouraged his grandchildren to march through 412 Kent Road singing “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt,” because his name was our name, too. M&M’s and cream soda tasted better because of him. Sometimes he’d wear a green shirt with white lettering that read I Feel Swell. It hangs in my bedroom, and it’s the reason for this site. It’s a phrase my grandpa always said in response to any, “How are you feeling?”
This site is just one more way to keep his memory alive.
I cover local news at a daily newspaper called The Saratogian in beautiful Saratoga Springs, N.Y. It’s interesting to ask politicians questions, cover school board meetings and try to explain zoning issues. Every now and then, however, I interview a person or several people, and I get to share a more personable tale. Someone battling an illness, or experiencing space camp.
I want to continue to share their stories.
